Deep Space Sorority//_"Flight of the Moth Blossom" [NSFW]

Posted by ErrantVultureNG - 1 day ago

*This is a concept draft for a story I've been writing. Had the idea for a good couple of years but this one is based on a dream I had about this IP.

Disclaimer: features suggestive themes, tobacco usage, harsh language, and casual nudity*

_Like an arrow that leapt from its bowstring, the Moth Blossom took off through the space between worlds. Her hull was the color of charcoal and her gimbaled plasma rockets cooled into silence. One could mistake her for flotsam, an easy piece of salvage, if it weren't for the two women on board glowing warm with vital signs. Everything continued to lull with the tired hush of dormancy. Activity was infrequent and low, occasionally offset by the groan of composites or soft hum of power still running through her systems. All of it mandated by an unsleeping AI.

Moth Blossom's interior had already dimmed into a state of zero lux—like a cave system or abandoned below-ground tunnel. It was the type of atmosphere that necessitates a rechargeable light which was true for many of her compartments. Of course, April and Sakura made peace with that. They each had a crank-torch stuffed in a pouch on their belts, used chemlights on the way to the bathroom. Every port was still an opportunity to grab as many power cells as they were allowed—and could afford. And the flight deck was no different 'cept for an arctic glow emanating from the galaxy map.

April and Sakura craned over the screen like it was some digital pool table, GPU the size of a door. It lit up their pale faces as they watched the cursor bounce between star systems. In addition to Moth Blossom's functions there was the frequent chirp of Sakura's "Here! What about here?" and April would oblige her only to say "Too far...". The words left April's lips with another curl of smoke. Another thing that glowed was the cherry on her cigarette when her lungs filled with more carbon.

April was the longer of the two. Tall and coltish, black hair reduced to a buzzcut. She hung over the star-charts like a willow branch with RBF, smoke curling from her lips. And Sakura somehow maintained her doll-like beauty. She sat cross-legged on the map's edge, stylishly twisting her slender figure to point at more selections. Her soft pink hair was worn in a low, messy bun and framed to cover one eye.

Moth Blossom's speed was incalculable. Faster than any munition fired in all of Earth's history, but at the right distance she wouldn't even appear to be moving. April gently pressed on the joystick and the cursor responded with another scan across the Sagittarius Arm. More stars—the vast majority of them without name. It was like zooming in and out of glitter particles dashed across a table with intent to find the perfect granule. Impatiently April spat into her palm to douse her cigarette burnt to its filter. Meanwhile, Sakura drew her finger across the screen with playful loops over a little star that caught her eye.

"What about here? Ten-ee-bris?"

April zoomed where Sakura's finger was pointing. The white dwarf Tenebris, another denizen of the Carina-Sagittarius Arm, 20 solar years from their current point in space. That is if Sakura's dead reckoning is to be believed, anyway...
